Description
approx. 90 hours on Photo Shop CSEnglish title: "Resurrection from a Darkened Heart
A sequel to
"Vigil of a Darkened Heart"
(although the connection is on a personally symbolic level and may not be readily apparent)
I painted this to mark my decision to return to art as my primary career path. While teaching English in Japan I found myself desiring to return to art but lacked the confidence to do so. It was around this same time that zemotion
came to Tokyo and I was fortunate enough to assist her with a number of her Tokyo Photo Shoots.
In many ways that experience gave me the courage to make the commitment to come back to art, and so much of the imagery I chose here was inspired by that time and so this was also partially painted as a tribute to zemotion and her art which has been an inspiration for me and many others.
I made a point to paint this before seeing any of the finished pieces from zemotions photoshoots, because I wanted it to be more of an impression than a direct take on any of her work. Even though seeing her photos I often feel that artist impulse to try to draw it, I find myself refraining because I don't think anything I draw could ever really add anything to the original.
So as a final plug, I would encourage you to check out zemotion's work for yourself if you aren't already familiar with it.
Sorry for the long comment, but this painting has been particularly meaningful for me.
Still not sure what I think of the final product, but the process was well worth it. I don't know if I'll ever spend over 40 hours on a painting again though. Get's kind of draining in the latter stretch.
